SACA Retirement Fund

The SACA Retirement Fund was established in 2005 with the dual objective of providing players with a trusted entity to put away money for retirement, and offering players group life, disability, and funeral insurance.

There is no cost to players as Cricket South Africa (CSA) contributes a percentage on behalf of the provincial player’s monthly remuneration to the fund while the National Men and Women receive monthly contributions through their CSA  contracts. Top-up contributions to the fund can be made by players who wish to make additional provision for retirement.

On retirement or loss of contract, a player may transfer the benefit to a similar fund without any tax implications. The benefit may be also be claimed in cash although this would be subject to a tax deduction.

FAQ’s

National (men&women) and Division 1 contracted cricketers are eligible for this benefit while under contract.

Players can contact Simone simone@saca.org.za at SACA to request a balance update. This indicates the amount that the player has accumulated in the fund.

Contributions by players, in addition to those made by CSA, can be made through each player’s Provincial or CSA payroll. Please contact Simone (simone@saca.org.za) to make the arrangements.

Players may claim their benefit in the event that they retire or have lost their professional cricket contract.

A claim form needs to be completed by the player and submitted along with proof of bank details and a copy of the player’s ID, to Simone (simone@saca.org.za) at SACA.

If the claim form and supporting documentation was submitted correctly, the claims process should take between 6-8 weeks.
